Program recognizes selling skills excellence with scholarships and paid internships
Toronto, February 1, 2017 - ADP Canada today announced the three winners of its student sales competition at Ryerson University.
Carter Grant from Brampton, ON earned the first place prize of $2500 in scholarship funding. Ryan Ing of Toronto took home second place, and will receive $1500. Jonathan DePaola of Markham finished third and will receive $1000.
The three students also won nine-week paid internships with ADP Canada later this year.
Working with the Ted Rogers School of Management, ADP invited students to take part in the competition to showcase their talents, to earn an opportunity to gain real-world experience and financial support to complete their education. This year’s competition launched in November, and all students were invited to submit a video pitch about a topic they are passionate about. Thirteen students were selected to spend a day at ADP’s sales office in Mississauga to hone their skills and participate in the semi-finals of the competition.
“We paired each student with an experienced sales mentor for the day,” explains John Yatabe, Vice President, Small Business Sales for ADP Canada. “They spent time in our sales department shadowing their sales mentor and then competed to sell one of our solutions to a panel of executives. We were really impressed with the skill and passion these students brought to the competition.”
Five finalists presented to a panel of ADP sales executives, and the awards were announced to an audience of 50+ guests, peers and faculty during a gala evening event at the Ted Rogers School of Management last night.
“The goal of the competition is to bring awareness to business students about sales as a profession. A profession that is very rewarding and always in high demand,” adds Yatabe. “One of our core values is Social Responsibility – giving back to the communities we work and live in. We are pleased to be able to partner with the Ryerson Commerce Society to accomplish this and give a head start to aspiring sales talent”
