Prestige Paving Stones Announced as Fourth Winner
of ADP® Small Business Grant Contest
Young entrepreneurs plan to buy new equipment and take on more employees
Toronto, April 25, 2013 – ADP Canada Co., a leading provider of human capital management services, today announced that Saskatoon-based paving stone installation company, Prestige Paving Stones, is the fourth monthly winner of ADP Canada’s Small Business Grant Contest. As part of the contest, ADP Canada is giving six entrepreneurs $10,000 cash plus free payroll services for a year. One winner is chosen and announced each month during the contest period.
In their winning entry, Joel Howlett and Kale Wudrich, co-owners of Prestige Paving Stones, described the challenge of establishing a business with no prior business or marketing experience. The two university students and long-time friends spent countless hours researching, planning, talking with experts, and watching online videos before deciding they were up for the challenge. Their first summer proved to be full of sweat, hard work and lots of learning-on-the-job, but the pair quickly realized how much they enjoyed being creative and delivering excellent service to each customer.
Since launching the company in 2009, Prestige Paving Stones has expanded to seven full-time employees with a roster of other part-time employees who join them in the summer months to handle the increased demand.
"Winning the grant contest means we will be able to buy a new trailer to transport the stones, update the equipment to function faster and more efficiently, and pay off the truck we bought earlier this year, said Mr. Howlett. We’ll also be able to use the prize money to expand our business and add more employees for the busy months."
Prestige Paving Stones began using ADP as their payroll service provider in February of this year. As part of the Small Business Grant Contest prize, Mr. Howlett and Mr. Wudrich will also receive payroll services for a year.

The ADP Canada Small Business Grant Contest was open to Canadian business owners with 1- 49 employees, and entries were received up until March 31, 2013.
Entrepreneurs entered the contest by sharing their business story and describing what they would do with $10,000. They could then invite their customers, employees, friends and family to show their support by voting for their submission online.
